How to Set Up Your Havana Shade Bridge Connector

Get your phone ready.

Updated 11/05/19

Note: It is important that you have a wireless modem broadcasting a 2.4 GHz frequency for your screens to connect to. This is common for modern wireless gear and is often the default. However, it is also common for newer modems to broadcast two signals; a 2.4 GHz and a 5.0 GHz. In this case make sure your screens are connected to the 2.4 GHz network before continuing.

Congratulations on purchasing your new Havana Shade!  Below are the directions to connect and program your shade connector bridge to your Wi-Fi system.  This will enable you to control your screens with a cellular device and also program specific scenes allowing you just set up automatic timers for each screen location. The Bridge is also compatible with Google Home, Alexa and IFTTT systems. Have your screen remote control on hand, you will need it for programming. Plug micro USB into bridge and connect regular USB to a power source. You are now ready follow the steps below (with videos for each step!):

Before we start, download the Shade Connector APP for iPhone. (As of January 8, 2020 the Andriod edition of the app is unavailable, and is yet to be replaced by a newer version).

1. Register a new account on the app.

2. Add a new Bridge Connection.

  • Connect on iOS (iPhone).
  • Connect on Andriod.

3. Add a new room.

Adding a new room will help you organize multiple screens. You must complete this step regardless of the number of screens you have.

4. Add a new device. There are two methods for doing this, each one outlined in the videos below.

  • Connect by Motor.
  • Connect by Remote.

You can now control your shades using your phone. Continue reading for more detailed guides on how to set up timers and integrate with Alexa or Google home.

Add a new “Scene”.

A scene is a preset position for your device. If you have multiple devices then scenes can help you organize the different devices into their own individual positions. This scene will be the basis of your scheduling.

  • Add a new timer for device.
  • Add a new timer for scene.
  • Connect to Alexa.
  • Connect to Google Home (via Google Assistant).
  • Connect to IFTTT.
  • Works with Siri.

Hopefully these guides have helped connect you to your screen’s controls. With these devices you can automatically open (or close) the world outside your home.
